Gordy started bowling at 13. At age 15 and a graduate of the junior program, he averaged 199 in the top men's competition. At age 16, he reached the finals of the State All-Star Eliminations. Gordy was the singles event winner in the Minneapolis City Tournament in 1962 with a 706 series. He also has a Single and All-Events Title in the Greater St. Paul City Tournament. In 1965 he was a member of the Hamm's Beer Team that won the American Bowling Congress National Tournament Team All-Events Crown. Bill Baden (HOF 1968) drilled his bowling equipment. Lindy Lundeen gave Gordy the best tipÉquit! Gordy looked up to Tony Wawersich and he bowled at Lowry Lanes a lot. His most memorable tournament victory was winning a CBA Title at Captain Jack's. |
